I'm enjoying this TDVC turmoil. The film is now getting poor reviews, and I think the boycott lure is making Sony a bit nervous. Heck, Howard has even suggested that people not see it: "My advice, since virtually no one has really seen the movie yet, is to not go see the movie if you think you're going to be upset. Wait. Talk to somebody who has seen it. Discuss it. And then arrive at an opinion about the movie itself."
Howard then said, "This is supposed to be entertainment, it's not theology."
It seems to me that he and Hanks are coming close to throwing Dan Brown under the bus. I wonder if there's a clause in the adaptation contract that prohibits the studio from coming out and saying, "Look, the book is fiction, the movie is fiction, and Dan Brown is a liar." Heck, they could even soften the last part and merely say, "Dan Brown was lying when he said the book is based on fact." That'd satisfy me.
