From the stained glass windows at Norwich Cathedral ([see more](http://contemplare.blogspot.com/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)). My grandmother had a special devotion to Jesus as shepherd. A Lutheran, she didn't phrase it that way, but she did. Today's Gospel reading reminds me of her, a fine woman whose death at age 101 shows that the good don't always die young.

> I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away... I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.
