Sobering the Drunk
"I've been drunk for about a week now, and I thought it might sober me up to sit in a library."
From The Great Gatsby, Chapter III.
For my drunken readers, I present this shot of the northwest corner of my study:
Too bad the quality isn't better. From left to right, you're looking at (i) a hodgepodge of books, then (ii) my fiction literature collection, then (iii) the 54-volume Great Books set (which I've read--snicker) and 28-volume Writings of the Church Fathers set, (iv) an Irish half-yard drinking glass, (v) my collection of Thomistic books, (vi) my religious collection, and (vii) my reference books. I have over 2,000 books in my study. I'd go into greater detail, but my wife is concerned that I've disclosed too much already. She's worried that babes from all over will want me after seeing this virile collection. She's probably right. Later on, I'll give a shot of the eastern wall: Voegelin, Chesterton, Belloc, Kirk, and philosophy. That'll make the girls scream.
