George Michael, stating part of the reason his life has been a shambles:
"The trajectory of my particular soap opera launched from that statement Elton made about 18 months ago when Elton hadn't seen me for years. The subtext to it is he was all right before he came out and now he lives this depraved gay life and he's miserable and fat ... Elton said he thought I was really miserable for some reason. From that point on, I've been trying to prove that I'm not."
I tried to find what Michael is talking about, but couldn't. Michael is 42. Elton came out 30 years ago. Has Elton been ruining his life since Michael was 12? Also: Who's living the depraved gay lifestyle? Both of them, of course, but who does Elton think is depraved? Presumably, Michael, in which case I get a kick out of it. It'd be like W.C. Fields accusing Dorothy Parker of drinking too much.
No matter. If Michael can hold on for another 20 years, he'll get knighted, and that'll make everything alright.
