There mere idea that medical providers are looking for illness is frightening. Clothes retailers try to convince you that you *need* this pair of shoes and car dealers try to tell you that *this car* will really make your life. What is to prevent doctors from trying to sell people on questionable surgeries, especially since many such medical procedures are judgment calls?
