Feast Day of St. Antony the Great. The patron saint of every would-be holy scoundrel who wants to give up and leave his station in life. I thought I wrote an article about St. Antony, but I think it was St. Macarius, one of his desert descendants. I haven't had much time to peruse its offerings, but in light of my effusive praise of Eric Voegelin, I feel compelled to mention this Voegelin site: [voegelinview.com](https://voegelinview.com/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). I'm a bit embarrassed that I hadn't noticed it before (it's apparently been around for many years). Based on a ten-minute surf around its pages, it looks pretty good. I'm going to try to remember to check it out frequently.

The problem with sites like voegelinview.com, however, is that the pieces are weighty. Now, I like to think I don't shirk from serious reading, but here's the thing: I reserve my heavy-lifting reads to actual books (or a Kindle), sitting at a table or other "serious reading" spot. When I'm on my computer, my reading habits are entirely different . . . my whole mental framework is different: I'm glancing, not delving; furtive, not focused. I don't know how a serious online publication bridges this small-yet-large chasm, but I'm afraid they need to figure it out.
