Lent starts. What will you do differently? Will the forty days pass (again) with no material change in your life? The day starts with fervor, but will it (again) pass by 11:00, your bid for holiness undone by simple hunger?
(Excuse me for talking to myself)
A few excerpts from today's Liturgy of the Hours:
Lo, on your fast day you carry out your own pursuits,
and drive all your laborers.
Yes, your fast ends in quarreling and fighting,
striking with wicked claw.
Would that today you might fast
so as to make your voice heard on high!
Isaiah, 58
