The New York Times is energized about an article from the Vatican about Intelligent Design. Essentially, the article comes down to this: I.D. is more of a philosophy than science. I don't find that surprising or troubling. I.D. is more of a philosophy. It's a philosophy derived from the scientific evidence, and the I.D. philosophy says--cogently--that "the philosophical underpinnings of Darwinism (i.e., materialism) are false."

No matter, the secularists are geeked. They think it's support for all of Darwinism because they don't know the difference between science and philosophy. Science encompasses all of philosophy in their stunted mental landscape, a product of the empricism that pervade our culture so thoroughly that we don't even recognize it.
