I like it when the lettuce boxes come into full bloom. Heirloom Black Seeded Simpson produces this overflowing fluorescent glow every spring.

BTW: Don't let anyone tell you lettuce has no nutritional value. It's a myth. Iceberg lettuce has no nutritional value. The others have varying degrees of nutrition, but I've been told that, generally, it has about half as much nutrients as spinach, chard, and kale. So yes, I grow more of those three greens, but leaf lettuce is easy and pretty so I have pots of it all over the place.
