French Population Up? . . .

France has had a slight upward blip in the birthrate, to 1.94, just below the replacement level of 2.1. It would be more reassuring if it were not exclusively among Moslems.
Because the French government does not gather statistics by ethnicity or religion, it is impossible to determine if the increase in the birth rate is evenly distributed among all groups or is largely confined to recent Moslem immigrants (my bet is the latter).
