A woman today wondered how I handle seven children. She said her hands are full with just one. I told her my situation isn't much worse than hers. "One," I said, "is a lot closer to seven than zero."

The Steelers' Troy Polamalu intercepts Peyton Manning with 5:26 remaining in the fourth quarter. It's the end of the game. The head ref overturns the call and says it was an incomplete pass. Unbelievable. I've been suspicious of NFL refereeing for a few years. Now, after that, I'll never believe there's not an element of corruption in NFL refereeing. As far as I'm concerned, the only questions are, "How prevalent is the corruption?" and "Is the NFL front office part of it?"
