Miscellaneous Rambling

Ow. It's only September 8th and I'm already burned out on football. It didn't help matters that I had to drive twice to the same varsity football game this weekend due to weather. Also not helping: my son's varsity team is 0-2, my son's JV team got mercied last Thursday by a much smaller school, my Wolverines embarrassed themselves at Notre Dame, and the Big Ten has become a laughingstock. * * * * * * * And the Lions haven't even started their season yet. I actually hold hope that they might be good this year (and I say the Big Ten is a laughingstock). * * * * * * * Maybe I should gravitate more toward cross-country events. Meg, eighth grade, won a big middle school combined boys-girls invitational over the weekend, beating the nearest boy by at least five seconds, thereby giving strong anecdotal evidence to my assertion that girls are just as good as boys in sports (chuckle). * * * * * * * GKC and I part ways on two issues: distributism and dogs. But just as Distributism has strong selling points and tugs at my heart, some dog things make me smile. This four-second video is one of them. * * * * * * * If you aren't aware that the current minimum wage debate is merely about imposing a tax on the middle class to benefit unions, you're ignorant (or you don't care about such things, in which case, I admire you). The minimum wage goes up, which drives up union wages (the minimum wage is a powerful measuring stick for union wages) while also driving up the cost of things that the middle class buys, like fast food. It's a wealth transfer, nothing more and nothing less.
