Seeger

“I like to say I'm more conservative than [Barry] Goldwater. He just wanted to turn the clock back to when there was no income tax. I want to turn the clock back to when people lived in small villages and took care of each other.”

Pete Seeger.

As I get older, I increasingly find myself admiring people I couldn't stand as a young man. Ralph Nader, for instance. And now Pete Seeger.

I think part of it stems from my Catholicism and a change in my thinking, but I think most of it stems from the fact that the political landscape and culture have shifted under my feet. If my views had remained unchanged, I could make absolutely no sense with what is happening in the United States today.

(Go here to find that quote by Seeger. It's part of a great little bio.)
