A Random Passage

“Never make people laugh. If you would succeed in life, you must be solemn, solemn as an ass. All the great monuments are built over solemn asses.” Thomas Corwin. Taken from Bill Kauffman, Ain't My America: The Long, Noble History of Antiwar Conservatism and Middle-American Anti-Imperialism.

Senator Corwin, of course, was correct. I guess I don't need to worry about getting a monument built over me. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I make people laugh, either.
