Cliche Clooney

One thing has always struck me about George Clooney: His incredible arrogance:

It's very easy when you're a conservative to say 'good' and 'bad.' It's simple: evildoers, bad people. The job of a liberal is to see both sides. That makes us lousy debaters. It's much easier to have a simplistic point of view, like Reagan.

Link.

Those close to him say he's well-read and a deep thinker, yet every time I read one of his quotes, he's spewing cliche-like thinking from the 1970s. Anyone who has ever grappled with moral norms--which are wrapped in metaphysical truths--and other notions of good and bad knows it's much, much harder than haphazardly embracing relativism and solipsism as your touchstones of "thinking."
