Ships in the Night

A columnist at WaPo weighs in on the stem cell research question. The writer is upset that scientists are coming up with bizarre ways to obtain embryonic stem cells that dont' run afoul of religious or philosophical objections. I can't comment on that, but I found it interesting that the writer doesn't even address the alternative of non-embryonic stem cells. Based on my readings, this is a highly viable option, yet when I venture into more liberal reading waters, the option is never even discussed. The debate isn't even joined, much less won by either side.
