Francis I

A Jesuit that was [at least mildly endorsed by the *National Catholic Reporter*](http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/papabile-day-men-who-could-be-pope-13?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)? An announcement that such a man is Pope normally would've sent a chill down my spine, but not with this man. Francis I looks awfully solid, as evidenced by one of his first acts after being named Pope: spending time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. I'm excited, to say the least. I don't know what to expect, but something is blowing in the Church these days. I'm anxious to see where it takes us. God bless, Francis I.

I'm going to take GKC's *St. Francis of Assisi* off the shelf and start reading it . . . again. "He was, to the last agonies of asceticism, a Troubadour. He was a lover. He was a lover of God and he was really and truly a lover of men; possibly a much rarer mystical vocation."

Interesting piece of trivia sent to me by a reliable colleague: "There are more people of Italian ancestry in Argentina than Spanish."
