Francis I
A Jesuit that was at least mildly endorsed by the National Catholic Reporter? An announcement that such a man is Pope normally would've sent a chill down my spine, but not with this man. Francis I looks awfully solid, as evidenced by one of his first acts after being named Pope: spending time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. I'm excited, to say the least. I don't know what to expect, but something is blowing in the Church these days. I'm anxious to see where it takes us. God bless, Francis I.
I'm going to take GKC's St. Francis of Assisi off the shelf and start reading it . . . again. "He was, to the last agonies of asceticism, a Troubadour. He was a lover. He was a lover of God and he was really and truly a lover of men; possibly a much rarer mystical vocation."
Interesting piece of trivia sent to me by a reliable colleague: "There are more people of Italian ancestry in Argentina than Spanish."
