Jews around [NYC] and the world are observing Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, today with fasting and prayer.
The holiday, which began at sundown last night and ends with the sounding of the shofar, or ram's horn, one hour after nightfall tonight, is the most sacred day on the Jewish calendar.
During the 25-hour observance, Jews atone for their sins during the past year and ask God for forgiveness in the belief that a person's fate for the year ahead is sealed today.
Don't forget to mention support for abortion.
