I've never been this busy at the office. There was an evening about three years ago, when I actually slept at the office, but that was basically a 72-hour rush. This bout has been going full bore since last Monday and it ain't letting up. So, just this kinda lame posting today.

This excerpt from Nock's Henry George is a great quote for an election year:
"John Adams . . . made it plain that the political organization of 1789 was not a republican, but on an imperial model; it was but 'a monarchical republic, or if you will, a limited monarchy,' for the powers of the executive were far greater than those of 'an avoyer, a consul, a podesta, a doge, a stadtholder; nay, than a king of Poland; nay, than a king of Sparta.' It was but the kind of republic which Guizot said scornfully 'begins with Plato, and necessarily ends with a policeman.' . . . [The masterpiece of the powerful elites'] political inventiveness [is] the party-system, whereby 'the people are simply permitted to choose which gang shall plunder them.'"
