Terry Teachout has resigned as the film critic of Crisis magazine. In his final column, he provided excerpts from what he "believes to be the 15 best American films of the past seven years." The excerpts are good, but the column isn't available on-line, and I'm not going to re-key all that text. The list of movies, however, is worth re-producing by itself, especially since most of the flicks are available on DVD:
The Apostle (1997)
Barbershop (2002)
Election (1999)
Ghost World (2000)
High Fidelity (2000)
The Incredibles (2004)
The Last Days of Disco (1998)
Lost in Translation (2003)
Next Stop Wonderland (1998)
Out of Sight (1998)
Panic (2000)
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Spellbound (2002)
The Station Agent (2003)
You Can Count on Me (2000)
Aside: Teachout's good blog about art and culture can be found here.
