Miscellany

I've been pulling up sod like a mad man lately. It's great exercise, it expands my garden, it reduces mowing time, and I can listen to podcasts while I do it. \* \* \* \* \* \* \* I've long enjoyed Marcus Grodi's *[The Journey Home](http://www.ewtn.com/tv/live/journeyhome.asp?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)*. Although I've watched the show only once, I regularly listen to the podcast reproduction. I've been listening to a ton of them during The Great Sod Removal Project of 2012\. Yesterday, I heard one of the best: an hour with former atheist, Jennifer Fulwiler. [She blogs at *National Catholic Register*](http://www.ncregister.com/blog/jennifer-fulwiler/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com) and, though nothing struck my fancy when I checked it for the first time yesterday, I was so impressed with the podcast, I've bookmarked it for future review. \* \* \* \* \* \* \* In case you missed it: [black pastor blasts the first gay president](http://wdtprs.com/blog/2012/08/black-pastor-blasts-the-first-gay-president-must-see-video/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). It's pretty good. Among other things, he says the gay community and Obama have abused the civil rights movement. \* \* \* \* \* \* \* The Olympics are an economic boom for the host cities, right? [Apparently not](http://mobile.washingtonpost.com/rss.jsp;jsessionid=07F4EB1CF27A5449644845B5A44EB552?rssid=613&item=http%3a%2f%2fwww.washingtonpost.com%2fworld%2feurope%2folympic-games-host-city-london-struggles-to-strike-economic-gold%2f2012%2f08%2f01%2fgJQAthNaPX%5Fmobile.mobile&cid=-1&spf=1&ref=thedailyeudemon.com). Ironically, it turns out that, unless you're directly tied into the Olympics, your business gets hammered because all other people, locals and tourists alike, stay home to avoid the Olympics crowd. \* \* \* \* \* \* \* I have a lot of these growing in my yard. I didn't plant it, but when it cropped up, I let it go. Can anyone tell me what it is?
