Escaping Frodo's Oppression

I can't blame the guy:

Can you picture gentle Frodo as a violent soccer hooligan? Is it possible to envision a timid soul like Baggins as the grandson of a Ukrainian Jew, exploring his relative's survival of the Holocaust? No, these aren't alternative-universe sequels to The Lord of the Rings. They are roles Elijah Wood has embraced to distance himself from everyone's favorite Hobbit.
"Getting away from Frodo comes up a lot," Wood admits, a slight smile - or is it a smirk? - flitting across his face. For LOTR fans, the face is very familiar, so Wood wanted to show it bashed and bloodied in Green Street Hooligans, opening tomorrow. Then, in Everything Is Illuminated, to open the following Friday, he hid it behind heavy black-framed glasses.
