I decided to make as many enemies as possible, so this week's column at Catholic Exchange criticizes forced community emotionalism. Link. Opening paragraph:

Well, it's that time of year again. Nine-Eleven Days. A time of patriotism. A time of feeling compelled to stand up to Lee Greenwood's “God Bless the USA” as if it were the national anthem, or risk getting labeled “homosexual communist” and beaten up by the local rednecks.
