Time to Melt?

*Thoughts triggered by this piece: [Wall Street Analysts Everywhere Are In Agreement: THE WORLD IS ENDING](http://www.businessinsider.com/apocalyptic-analyst-notes-2011-11?ref=thedailyeudemon.com).*

After the sharp drop in stocks Friday afternoon, the bears were out in force this weekend. I suspect things will be fine, at least for this week.

One, it's a holiday week, the shortest work week of the year. Does anything bad happen in just three days? I'm already getting Thanksgivingitis (the itch to drink and leisurely hang out for four days). It makes it hard for me to keep focused on things monetary. I seriously doubt I'm alone.

Two, I've kinda been watching this whole stock-market thing for three years now and the only invariable rule appears to be: If people are expecting a sharp drop, a sharp drop doesn't occur.

We'll see.

Hoover

[A review from *The Economist*](http://www.economist.com/node/21538668?ref=thedailyeudemon.com): "At heart, *J. Edgar* is a love story between two men: the ferocious bulldog sitting atop his empire of wiretaps and blackmail and the handsome young clothes-horse he made his longtime companion without ever daring to become his lover. . . . Forget *Brokeback Mountain*, with its distracting scenery. Mr Eastwood's camera bores straight into his characters' souls, discovering the sweetness hidden inside his monstrous protagonist. His *J. Edgar* turns out to be one of the most beautiful and affecting gay love stories to come out of Hollywood."

Thanks, Clint. I just hurled.

Jerry Hoover?

*The Economist* was touched by *J. Edgar*? Stories like this must make them weep with appreciation:

> Penn State University received almost $250,000 for a series of sleepover camps in 2008 and 2009 run by the charity group founded by Jerry Sandusky - years after ex-athletic director Tim Curley imposed an “unenforceable” ban on the accused child molester from bringing children onto the school's sports facilities and main campus.
