A TDE reader sends this along:

Paul

I had given up on Ron Paul, but I'm beginning to hear more about him. Most recently: "A new Bloomberg poll of likely caucus participants shows a four-way tie in Iowa, with Rep. Ron Paul joining Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain in the top tier of candidates." Link. I guess it's time for the MSM to start burying all references to Paul even deeper, except for purposes of snickering and snarling.

"Go on, now. Scat!"

Scat, protester! Scat! Link to Breitbart video of an Occupy Protester logging his own form of protest. 20-second video. Turn on volume. The background commentary is kinda funny.

New Book

New book: Currency Wars. It looks pretty good. It addresses the "race to the bottom" that the United States, Europe, China, and Japan are employing to get rid of their debts. The author of the book doesn't see much light at the end of the tunnel and, in fact, thinks the likely outcome is the emergency of some sort of gold standard. From a review at Bloomberg: "'There is an unwillingness, rooted in ideology, to explore ways to reconcile the demonstrated stability of gold with the necessity for some degrees of freedom in the management of the money supply to respond to crises and correct mistakes,' he writes. 'A reconciliation is overdue.' A fair point, though I found myself distracted a few pages later by a table presenting implied gold prices based on various measurements of money supply. The top value per ounce: $44,552. "
