Happy All Souls Day. It's probably my favorite non-obligatory feast day of the year.

Occupy a Job Already

The Occupy Wall Street people need to go home. I sympathized with them at first: I hate Wall Street, too. But it's obvious that it's a direction-less and empty-headed movement that would make the most-stoned sixties radical blush at its vapidness.

And they're not doing anything constructive, not employing anyone, not doing anything, except hurting others:

> Twenty-one restaurant workers lost their jobs last week because of the Occupy Wall Street protests, the cafe owner said Tuesday.

> Marc Epstein, owner of the Milk Street Cafe at 40 Wall St., said he had no choice but to let nearly a quarter of his staff go last Friday after he saw his sales drop by 30 percent in the six weeks since the protests started.

But hey, they're calling for a general strike today. It'd be our first in something like 75 years. If they pull it off, I guess I'll have to eat these electronic words.

Drinking Corner

Michigan apparently doesn't have enough red tape and bureaucratic oversight. What's just one more little requirement!

> A new state law geared toward reducing underage drinking will require any beer keg sold or returned after Nov. 1 to bear a state-issued tag that will enable law enforcement to trace who purchased it.

> For retailers and breweries that sell kegs, the law means more paperwork and the potentially unpleasant task of scrubbing stickers off of kegs when they are returned.

> For consumers it means more paperwork and more accountability, but it also means if they have a keg they haven't returned by Nov. 1, they may be out of luck getting their $30 deposit back.
