We think most documentaries are trash. They lull people into thinking they're learning when they're not. But a documentary to start this Sunday might be the trashiest yet. Link. Excerpt:
Hefner, who founded an empire on the allure of an unavailable nude making eye contact from a magazine page, says he's a misunderstood romantic who created a world befitting his own comfortably elastic definition of the term.
This world is on view in "The Girls Next Door" (premiering 9 p.m. EDT Sunday on E!), an eight-part series from executive producer Kevin Burns that promises to introduce viewers to "the secret side of an American legend."
We're assuming Burns will approach the subject seriously, like all his documentaries. That could be the worst part: men will think they're learning something when they're really just being perverse.
