Happy birthday to Eric Scheske's son, Maximilian Melvin Scheske. The first name comes from Kolbe and the middle from Eric's father, Mel. Max is devastatingly handsome and, we're told from one professionally-administered test, very smart. But he doesn't talk. It's a source of concern: his hearing is fine and everything else is normal (except a remarkable ability to get into trouble). But he refuses to talk, opting instead for a few items of sign language and pointing.
No one can figure out the silent enigma that is Max. But no matter: It's his birthday and we're happy he's here.
