A judge on Thursday threw out the deportation case against four young people who were brought to the United States illegally when they were toddlers.
U.S. Immigration Judge John Richardson granted a request to exclude key evidence in the case, ruling that border agents questioned the four based on their Hispanic appearance.

We don't know all the facts of the case, but might it make sense to question Hispanics as possible illegal aliens, as opposed to questioning, say, the elderly black man or the teenage white girl? Simple fact is, the odds are much greater that a Hispanic person is an illegal than a black or white. Should that by itself be enough to question an individual? Probably not, but if combined with other circumstances, race should at least be a factor.
Unless ideology overrides common sense.
