More on Paul

Kinda significant: The *Washington Post* ran a version of [that *Slate* article on Ron Paul](http://www.slate.com/id/2284503/pagenum/all/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com#p2) over the weekend: [Ron Paul, opponent of the Fed and fan of the gold standard, a lone wolf no more](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/12/AR2011021202409.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). Unlike the *Slate* article, this one is an unequivocal slam piece. They're by the same author, and at first I thought they were identical, but they're not. I think they're the same piece, but edited by different editors. I went through and compared them. In the process, I have changed my opinion about the *Slate* piece. It is not a fair piece. It's smear journalism as well, just not as bad as *WaPo*. **\* \* \* \* \* \* \* Merge**. I was intrigued enough by the different editing jobs that I went to the trouble of cutting-and-pasting them into MS Word, then running a compare/merge. The results are pretty interesting. [Link](http://dailyeudemonannex.blogspot.com/2011/02/compare-articles.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). You can see that the *WaPo* editor brought more venom to the red pen. **\* \* \* \* \* \* \* One More Paul**. In case you missed it: [Ron Paul captures TWT/CPAC presidential preference straw poll](http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/12/rep-ron-paul-captures-cpac-straw-poll/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). **\* \* \* \* \* \* \* Apologies**. Sorry about all the Paul stuff these past couple of days, but I'm a creature of content. Unless I am posting an essay or notes from my journals, I blog what I see on the Internet, but don't worry. This won't become the Ron Paul blog. \* \* \* \* \* \* \* **\* \* \* \* \* \* \* BYCU Holiday Edition**: Chocolate is a Valentine's Day favorite, but if you want yours in liquid form, consider [Black Chocolate Stout](http://www.cleveland.com/taste/index.ssf/2011/02/black%5Fchocolate%5Fstout%5Ffrom%5Fbro.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). It sounds nasty to me, but I know lots of people like the chocolaty malts. **\* \* \* \* \* \* \*** **Quote**. Best quote from my weekend reading: “The church \[of Scientology\] defines an Operating Thetan as 'one who can handle things without having to use a body or physical means.' An editorial in a 1959 issue of the Scientology magazine *Ability* notes that 'neither Lord Buddha nor Jesus Christ were O.T.s, according to the evidence. They were just a shade above Clear.'"
