Today is the Feast of St. Stephen. The Catholic Church loves its paradoxes: The day of intense joy followed by a day of sobering reality. Joy and martyrdom, love and hatred of love, Everlasting Life and grisly death.
Note: The above is accurate, but since it's also Sunday, it's the Feast of the Holy Family, which, from what I can figure out, supplants the Feast of St. Stephen.
