Anti-Commie Comics

The Authentic History Center has put a series of comic book issues from the 1960s on line. They're "This Godless Communism," a look at Communism's threat to the U.S. and Catholics, published by the Catholic Guild.

We didn't read all the issues, but we read the first one. On first blush, it's kind of embarrassing. It presents what seems like an extreme (aye, even comical) view of what America would be like if Communism took over America in the sixties. But if you've read a biography of Solzhenitsyn or works by Robert Conquest or articles by Malcolm Muggeridge, you realize it's not far fetched. It's a very simplistic account of how it would have taken place, but, substantively speaking, it's not far fetched.

Intro by The Authentic History Center:

Treasure Chest was a monthly comic book published by the Catholic Guild from 1946 to 1972. Each issue featured several different stories intended to inspire citizenship, morality, and patriotism. In the 1961, volume 17 number 2 issue, the story "This Godless Communism" began. It continued in the even numbered issues through number 20. The entire story is presented here.
