Obama-Girls-Spain-10-Hotel

Sundry Mondry

Drudge headlines from Sunday afternoon: "Lavish Obama vacation in time of economic turmoil raises eyebrows..." "BAKER: 'Leaves taxpayers with hefty bill'... "While president preaches sacrifice, his family frolics in Spain...". Overall, such headlines strike me as unseemly. The cost of the vacation isn't a dime's worth of cost in the grand scheme of things. Yes, the vacations are unseemly, too, and there definitely seems to be a sense that, since taking over the White House, the Obamas, especially Michelle, are "gettin' theirs while the gettin's good," but overall, this vacation just isn't a big deal (especially since she's supposedly footing the bill herself, except for the expense of security). * * * * * * * But this is funny: A New York Daily News columnist called her "a modern-day Marie Antoinette." Obama better not summon the Estates General. The people might end up storming the IRS service center. * * * * * * * Headline: "Obama's economic team exhausted." Well, yeah. You're trying to address real economic problems with Keynesian solutions. That's like trying to left a heavy barbell with your ankles. You might have some awkward success, but overall, you're gonna strain or break yourself. * * * * * * * Austerity measures with ensconced public sector employees? It's hard tough to do. First, the Greek riots. Now, Milwaukee erections: "With the district in a financial crisis and hundreds of its members facing layoffs, the Milwaukee teachers union is taking a peculiar stand: fighting to get its taxpayer-funded Viagra back." * * * * * * * I don't know what to think about the guy, but I greatly enjoy Bill Bonner. Another agreeable enigma, The Daily Bell, recently interviewed him. You can find it here. * * * * * * * Great public service: Free Catholic pamphlet downloads, courtesy of Scepter Publishers. * * * * * * * Bullets or essays? Right now, I offer a mix, with an emphasis on bullets. Do you like the bullet posts (like today's) or the essay post (like the first part of Saturday and last Tuesday)? Keep mixing it up? I'm curious to know your opinion. Comment box or email (link on the left) is fine. * * * * * * * The openly-gay Justin Raimondo bashes gay marriage, calling it an "oxymoron." I like Raimondo (easy there). He's a unique thinker and doesn't care if his positions are unpopular with the general population or among his own segment of it.
