More on .XXX
This is interesting. We haven't taken a position on the .XXX domain, but we were inclined to approve of it since the First Amendment Absolutists tend to disapprove of it (they fear that sites will be forced to register as .XXX, even though the sites themselves don't consider themselves pornographic--it's a subjectivist thing, which is, you know, the only thing to FA2s). But now this:
Horrid pornography is about to be honored with a permanent home on the Internet by the Department of Commerce, which is expected to approve .XXX domains.
Don't stand by and let an industry that produces and distributes detrimental hard-core pornography operate its own display case free of interference by government officials intent on enforcing federal obscenity laws.
Sign this petition that calls on the DOC not to condone an online red-light district. Let Sec. Carlos M. Gutierrez know this will be a horrible move not only for the United States but for the entire world, because 20 U.S. companies account for more than 70 percent of the Web's porn. For America's sake, act now while there's still time!
