Horror in Different Forms
Old ads like this one crack me up. * * * * * * * "FDA: 'Female Viagra' falls short." Well, yeah. They don't have penises. * * * * * * * What would we do without scientific studies? "In a new study, European researchers found obese women had more trouble finding a sexual partner than their normal-weight counterparts." The article says obese men don't have the same problem. Thanks for that. Let me lay it out for the feminists who don't get it: Men look for physical attractiveness. Women look for money. It's exceedingly hard for a fat woman to have the former, but a fat man can have the latter. I know all this "hard-wired sexism" sucks, but we're going to have a hard time legislating it away. I'm sure someone will try, but for the time being, both sexes will pursue their different shallow preferences. * * * * * * * Ten horror movies every person should watch. It's a good list, but I've pretty much sworn off horror movies for the same reason T.S. Eliot wouldn't read Flannery O'Connor: the horror sticks in my mind and doesn't go away. I keep thinking about it, and I think it hurts my mental development in the long run. My proclivity for horror movies as a young man probably contributed to my penchant for keeping corpses in my basement listening to the music of Wagner. * * * * * * * A college alumnus tells it like it is.
