Slow Blogging Wednesday

Ya gotta like Robert Higgs. He loathes big government, and we are undergoing some of the biggest government growth in modern history. I also gotta believe he's not terribly optimistic about the economy. Yet he has some advice for everyone who is bracing for economic Armageddon: Chill out. Don't lose your heads.

What I do know is that for thousands of years, some people have been telling their fellows that the end is near, and although some terrible things did happen from time to time, hardly ever did they prove to be as catastrophic as the prophets' most foreboding warnings had foretold. The sky never rained blood, the oceans never boiled, the ground never rose up to crush squealing humanity between heaven and earth. Of course, as David Hume has taught us, this history is no guarantee that such an apocalypse won't happen. Nevertheless, I am inclined to make my bets on the basis of a somewhat more temperate outlook.

Over five hours dedicated to baseball spectating last night. I have no more time for blogging today. I have, however, posted three pictures below. They're pictures of three mystery plants from my garden. I didn't plant these three items, and I don't know what they are. They're all similar, but not identical. Are they pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers, watermelon? I don't know, but I'd love to hear from someone who knows or might know. Note: All three plants have soft prickers all over the leaves and stems.
