Who Is Gerard Casey?

If you like podcasts, take a serious look (listen) to [Mises Institute Media](http://feeds.mises.org/MisesMedia?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). They're spitting out podcasts like the Beltway spitting out dollars, except many of 'em are high quality. I came home from work early last night so I could take a long walk and enjoy our first 60-degree sunny day while listening to a podcast (great tripartite multitasking). I by chance selected one of the most charming podcasts I've ever heard: "[Two Roads, One Truth](http://mises.org/media/4682?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)." The lecture basically revolves around what [Eric Voegelin](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1932236481?ie=UTF8&tag=thedailyeudem-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1932236481&ref=thedailyeudemon.com) described as "Immanent Gnosticism," an ersatz-religion that confines itself to the mundane sphere (think: Fascism, Communism, Progressivism).

It's by a guy I'd never heard of: [Gerard N. Casey](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard%5FCasey%5F%28philosopher%29?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). He turned out to be one of the best academic speakers I've heard, he's brilliant, and he's a libertarian. But the similarities between him and me don't stop there! He converted to Catholicism as an adult, obtained a graduate degree from Notre Dame, and studied under [Ralph McInerny](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1882926390?ie=UTF8&tag=thedailyeudem-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1882926390&ref=thedailyeudemon.com) (I converted at age 25, obtained a law degree from N.D., and one time introduced myself to McInerny after Mass ("Hi. I'm Eric Scheske. I'm a pretty big deal around here; write a blogging column for, ahem, the *Register* . . . ")).

When I got home, I searched the Internet for Gerard Casey material, but there's very little out there. I'll read [this article](http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig10/casey-g1.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com) later. If anyone knows much about the guy or where I can find more of his work, please let me know.

(BTW: I trust you will note the sarcasm in the second paragraph above.)
