Has anyone else noticed the glut of stories from India involving spiritual con games?

Police in India have arrested a couple who claimed they could cure ill people through 'ghost therapy'.
Kohinoor Bibi and her husband Majid Mandal claimed two ghosts helped them treat their patients, reports the Mumbai Mirror.
She charged about £30 to treat villagers for problems including gall stones, kidney stones, appendicitis, hernias and tumours.

In volume 1 of A History of Christendom, Dr. Warren Carroll recounts the dark metaphysics that pervade India and refers to it as the Devil's playground. Interesting stuff in light of all these spiritual games we hear about in the news.
