I read *In Conversation with God*. Every day. In theory, anyway. I always fall off the *Conversation* wagon, then get back on. Sometimes I fall off for days, sometimes for weeks. Last week, I stopped reading on Tuesday and didn't get back to it until Friday afternoon, after the decision had been made to take my father off the respirator. That day's meditation: "A Christian Outlook on Death."

On my way home Saturday (my father had been airlifted to a hospital three hours from my house), I decided to listen to the most-recent *Sunday Night Live* podcast (10/25/2009) on my iPhone. I used to listen to Benedict Groeschel all the time. I hadn't listened to him for months, but decided to listen to him since he'd recently had a stroke. The subject of his talk: death and the resurrection.

In light of the situation with my father, I was struck deep when I opened the *Conversation* meditation Friday afternoon. When I heard Fr. Groeschel start talking about death and resurrection on Saturday, I just weakly smiled.

My father died Saturday evening. For now, there is no eudemon in my world. There will be blog posts (Dad was a daily reader), but don't count on much.
