Zero Tolerance Means Zero Discretion

A high school senior was quoted in the local paper as saying "she likes drinking" and plans to drink alcohol with her friends after the prom. The school, citing its zero-tolerance policy, has now banned her from attending the prom. Link.

Hmmm, if a guy was quoted as saying he hoped to get lucky after prom, that would've been fine, right, even though the societal effects of pre-marital sex are far worse than underrage drinking? The school probably doesn't have a zero-tolerance policy for backseat copulation.
