Yikes, I own some MSFT stock: Google Inc., owner of the most-visited Internet search engine, is developing a computer operating system based on its Chrome Web browser, taking aim at Microsoft Corp. in its strongest market. I saw Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) interviewed once on TV. I found him insufferable. I never thought I'd say this, but I hope MSFT wins this one.
A large number of African-American children kicked out of a club's pool. The club's president picks an unfortunate way to explain: "There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion ”¦ and the atmosphere of the club." Alright, maybe some racism was at work, but how big is this pool? The article says 60 kids showed up at once. Unless it's an olympic-sized pool, just half of 'em with loose bladders would raise the water temperature three degrees. I also don't believe the following: "The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately." Yeah, right, and then the pool attendant whipped out a gun and started firing shots over the kids' heads.
Far out, that's kinda how I describe myself: "Tolkien considered himself a conservative anarchist." Click the link for one of the more unique literary analysis I've ever seen: Ayn Rand v. JRR Tolkien.
I've been meaning to ask: A friend tells me that he heard a blurb on the XM Catholic Channel that said it would be playing a speech by Eric Scheske. He said he meant to listen to it, but forgot. He figured I knew about it. I didn't. Anybody else hear that blurb or the speech?
Sobering unemployment blurb over at The Atlantic: "[T]otal unemployment -- which includes: the officially unemployed; part-timers seeking more hours; and hundreds of thousands who have given up looking -- is probably already at 16.5 percent, already."
Low-computer access days coming up, but don't worry: I've arranged a good slate of blog posts, some of the best stuff I've ever posted. It should be a good week. I hope you enjoy it.
