Ceiling. Trastevere

Some fun-read stuff by Mark Steyn on the Oscars. The point I particularly liked: Hollywood has always been political; the Oscars have always been political. But now, it's just preening and virtue-signaling. It used to take a little bit of guts to take a political stance at the Oscars; now it takes guts not to. They're just a bunch of dullards taking the same stances on everything.

Hollywood is worse. But their sense of their moral superiority is so indestructible that Jimmy Kimmel couldn't resist lecturing the world that, even as the veil is lifted and the bathrobe cord is unknotted, they're still better than you - and always will be. Kimmel's fatuous jab reminds us that it's not the politics, it's the preening.
Ceiling. Trastevere

Kimmel's the saddest spectacle of all. He was a smart guy, an independent thinker. To see him sell-out so totally and shamelessly? It's just head-shaking sad. I don't think I can even watch reruns of Win Ben Stein's money without crying at my loss.

Ceiling. Trastevere

I wonder what Ben Stein thinks about Kimmel's turn to the robotic left? I subscribed to American Spectator back in those days, mostly for two columns: "The Continuing Crisis" and "Ben Stein's Diary." Stein frequently raved about Kimmel's talent and intelligence. And now this trainwreck of an entertainer. But hey, his peers like it, and I guess that's all that matters to him.

Ceiling. Trastevere

BTW: I never thought Kimmel was a conservative. I just thought he was cool, and I thought he was a comedian. Those guys tend to be apolitical. They just joke about anything. I don't think Kimmel could poke fun at, say, Antifa without blushing.

Ceiling. Trastevere

If this happens to me when I'm home alone, I'm taking a sledge hammer to it . . . or taking a full bottle of gin into myself: "Amazon Admits Alexa Is Creepily Laughing At People."

One user reportedly tried to turn the lights off in their home but Alexa repeatedly turned the lights back on, eventually uttering an 'evil laugh,' according to BuzzFeed.
Another Echo Dot owner said they told Alexa to turn off their alarm in the morning and she responded by letting out a 'witch-like' laugh.
