For our brothers across the pond:

St George's Day - an occasion which not too long ago could arguably pass by almost unnoticed - is now being celebrated on a far wider scale, according to groups promoting the day.

One of my favorite Chesterton poems:

St. George he was for England
And before he slew the dragon,
He drank a pint of ale
Out of an English flagon.
And though he fast mightily
In hair shirt or in mail,
It isn't safe to give him cakes,
Unless you gave him ale.

(Note: I quote the poem from memory, so it might not be precise, but it's very close)
