I live in Michigan.
Where I could potentially grow a fig tree.
A TDE reader from northern Ohio sent this email: “A friend of my mom’s has two fig trees in her backyard nearby–we stopped by once, and I noticed the leaves and thought ‘Holy crap! Those are fig trees!’ Probably eight feet tall. She wraps them in burlap every winter and keeps them fairly trimmed down.”
He also sent along this story about a crop of fig tree in New York City: “The climate in New York City is supposedly too cold for figs. But hundreds of fig trees grow in Astoria, Queens. They were brought from the Old World by Italian and Greek immigrants, whose descendants now lovingly care for them.”Bookmark it: del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList
