Straight Out of the Hudge and Gudge Playbook

Big business pushes for vast regulations. They have the resources to comply with the requirements, whereas their smaller competitors suffocate under the red tape. Small farms are apparently in the scopes next. From the Growing for Market newsletter: "The deadline is fast approaching for commenting on the proposed rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and it's becoming increasingly clear that many small farmers will be negatively affected by this costly and burdensome law. Farm advocacy groups across the U.S. are urging all farmers to submit comments to the federal Food and Drug Administration before the Nov. 15 deadline."

I figure my garden will be next. I'm still pulling greens, tomatoes, and squash out of it. Imagine the $20 or so in tax revenue that the feds are losing, not to mention the food sales that the grocery stores are losing. People like me are tearing America down. It's time to declare a national economic emergency or invent a blight that emanates from "non-regulated food growing and consumption sites."
