Miscellany

I've been pulling up sod like a mad man lately. It's great exercise, it expands my garden, it reduces mowing time, and I can listen to podcasts while I do it. * * * * * * * I've long enjoyed Marcus Grodi's The Journey Home. Although I've watched the show only once, I regularly listen to the podcast reproduction. I've been listening to a ton of them during The Great Sod Removal Project of 2012. Yesterday, I heard one of the best: an hour with former atheist, Jennifer Fulwiler. She blogs at National Catholic Register and, though nothing struck my fancy when I checked it for the first time yesterday, I was so impressed with the podcast, I've bookmarked it for future review. * * * * * * * In case you missed it: black pastor blasts the first gay president. It's pretty good. Among other things, he says the gay community and Obama have abused the civil rights movement. * * * * * * * The Olympics are an economic boom for the host cities, right? Apparently not. Ironically, it turns out that, unless you're directly tied into the Olympics, your business gets hammered because all other people, locals and tourists alike, stay home to avoid the Olympics crowd. * * * * * * * I have a lot of these growing in my yard. I didn't plant it, but when it cropped up, I let it go. Can anyone tell me what it is?
