Tea Moron

Why we'll never get anywhere:

"A banner at one of those tea-parties sums up the confused attitude of many of the so-called anti-government protesters: 'Keep the government's hands off my Medicare.'" Found at The Economist.

The individual holding that banner was either a liberal plant or a moron, but the mere fact that the story is believable or that such a banner was ingenuously held up at a tea party speaks volumes about our problems. We've come to rely on government so much, we don't know we rely upon it. We might as well hold up banners that say, "Down with literacy!" We couldn't imagine communicating without the written word, and we can't imagine living without government assistance. Under such circumstances, government will just continue to grow because people can no longer go without it. I fear it'd take a revolution to undo the damage that's been done to individual responsibility and independence. A mere "tea party" grassroots movement, especially when it features banners like that one, ain't gonna do it.

Jekyll Island II

"One of the less-reported events this weekend was the not so secret central banker meeting that is taking place in Sidney Australia. Now that factual details are finally emerging it is appropriate to collect some information tidbits about this shindig which has some claiming is reminiscent of a modern day version of the Jekyll Island meeting. From the Sydney Morning Herald." Read More.
