A good economy is all about making creaturely comforts (including leisure) more accessible. I think a study of the craft beer craze would offer a salubrious scan of how an industry can grow, adapt, and prosper, while at the same time showing how government interference (state liquor laws) always mucks things up.
Perhaps this cottage industry could be Exhibit A for the first part of that study: Mobile Canning Systems. From what I can tell, this little company will come to your craft brewery and put your brew into cans. The vast majority of craft brewers use bottles. Cans have long been anathema to the beer snob, but that attitude is changing and this company plans on taking advantage of it. I wish them the best of luck.
The company is based in Colorado, but it looks like they're looking for "affiliates" in different states (the first link above takes you to the Michigan page). It looks like it might be a franchise opportunity.
