Not a lot out there today. It's the feast day of St. Boniface, so that's pretty cool, unless you're a Germanic pagan. * * * * * * * I also read this great interview with Lincoln-basher (i.e., hagiographer-correction artist) Thomas DiLorenzo. Excerpt: "The Whig agenda, which was always Lincoln's agenda, was described brilliantly by Edgar Lee Masters (Clarence Darrow's law partner) in his book, Lincoln the Man. The agenda was to champion 'that political system which doles favors to the strong in order to win and keep their adherence to the government.' It advocated 'a people taxed to make profits for enterprises that cannot stand alone.' The Whig Party 'had no platform to announce,' Masters wrote, 'because its principles were plunder and nothing else.'" Interesting passage, that. It would appear the Whig Party is alive and well today, but now it's just called "Washington, DC." * * * * * * * Gardening update: The garden is doing well. I started getting a few cherry tomatoes in my self-watering containers last Monday. My goal was to get cherry tomatoes by Memorial Day, but the cold weather was too much to over come. I still consider ripe cherry tomatoes by June 3rd to be a small victory . . . albeit at great cost. * * * * * * * Good late night: "A man in California received 11 pounds of marijuana in the mail by mistake. At least he did the right thing. He called the police and told them someone accidentally mailed him five pounds of marijuana." Ferguson. "Starbucks is now banning smoking within 25 feet of its stores. It will get even worse for smokers once they realize every Starbucks is about 25 feet from another Starbucks." Fallon.
